Our History
Articles Haven was first launched early in 2005. Over time, it grew to have hundreds of thousands of articles and thousands of authors. Around 2008, we experienced some technical difficulties and the site somewhat languished. It's suprisingly tough to run an article submission website. Hack attempts, mountains of spam and more meant the site was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain and run. As sometimes happens, the site entered a period of neglect.
In late 2009, the decision was made to entirely scrap the previous back-end. The shift to a new back-end system cost us a lot of traffic, as many of our pages were de-indexed by Google and our page rank dropped... despite our best efforts. But such is the nature of the ever changing internet.
Fast-forward to 2011, and we're now running a much better system - and as a result - our traffic continues to climb. The constant barrage of spam articles continues, but we're working on better ways to combat that. And now to the future...
Our Goals
Articles Haven has three core objectives:
- Provide end-users with useful content
- Provide article publishers with a means to increase their exposure on the web
- Provide webmasters a source of content that they can reproduce on their website without copyright limitations
Articles Haven is commited to providing itself as a valuable information resource on the web. With the multitude of article sites on the web, it's often hard to compete, but we feel we can still provide another channel. So here's to 2012 and beyond...
