To apply for a license, you need to have at least 3 years of experience as apprentice plumber under a master plumber and it has to be over and above 300 hours of theory learning. You would also need to clear a plumber s license exam. You should be at least 18 years of age. You should be capable of taking up independent assignments, make estimates of cost, you should also be aware of fair prices and your assessments should be close to accurate.

Other desirable qualities are that you should have good mathematical ability, dexterity, ability to use manual or power operated work tools.
