Summer Vacation – What Is The Popular Summer Vacation To Be Taking This Year?

For many industries and trades the past 10 – 15 years have been very difficult, not necessarily because of any economic down turn, indeed in most countries the economy has been booming and business has been very good. The difficulty for many businesses has been the way that the inter web has affected their business and the way that they have to do business. No industry has felt this more than the travel industry. It used to be that when we wanted to book a holiday we would go into our local travel agent and see what offers were available for destinations that we had heard of and that we fancied. Now we have the luxury of surfing the inter web to find our perfect hotel in our dream location without ever having to step foot outside of our house. Because of this change in the way we book our holidays the travel agents have had to look at ways to attract us back into their shops and to get them to spend our holiday money with them rather than on-line. So how are they trying to do this and what new ideas have they come up with for us?
Over the past few years the travel agent have tried many things to get us back through their doors but very few things have worker, the multi center holiday being one prime example where on a two week holiday you might book to stay at two or three totally different locations meaning that you spent half of your holiday settling in to a location only to be packing again in a few days to move on to your next location. This was, in theory a great idea, giving people the chance to experience different places on the same holiday but soon the popularity started to wane.
One of the more popular concepts that the travel industry came up with was the all inclusive resort that meant that you paid up front for all of your food and drink at your hotel before you arrived, doing away with the need for you to spend any money when you were there. The problem with this idea is that if the food is not so good you have paid up front for it and are stuck with it for the duration of the holiday whereas if you went to a restaurant that you were not happy with whilst away you just would not return there. All inclusive holidays can offer good value for money, especially if you have children, as long as the food is edible.
The biggest growth area for the travel agents at the moment is by far and away the luxury cruise holiday market. Luxury cruise holidays have been re-invented over the past 10 years to move away from the stuffy and very formal impression that people used to have of them. In many cases these impressions were justified as a luxury cruise holiday did used to have a heir of opulence about it and was generally something that the more upper class people of society used to enjoy.
You can still have that type of luxury cruise holiday if you so wish but generally the luxury cruise holiday that most people are going for nowadays are a more family orientated occasion that is taken for two weeks upon a fantastic fun filled floating palace with every conceivable form of entertainment for everyone in the family to enjoy. These luxury cruise holidays are heavily advertised and are fairly reasonably priced, with service and facilities that are top class and indeed are everything that you would expect from a luxury cruise holiday.
So maybe the luxury cruise holiday has saved the travel agent from going extinct or maybe it is just a stay of execution until the vacation market changes once again.
